Seven Favorite Verses

I was inspired on Facebook by 20-year old Darci who was challenged by her Aunt to share her favorite Bible verses on Facebook.  She in turn challenged others to do the same.  With Darci’s permission I share her verses and her comments below.  — Posted by Mike Drake.

From Darci:

I have been challenged by my aunt Deanna to share my favorite verses for the next 7 days. This is hard because there are so many passages that I feel speak to me directly. I hope you all enjoy and these verses affect your lives as they have affected mine!

Day 1:
2 Timothy 1:7 “For God hath NOT given us the spirit of fear; but of POWER, and of LOVE, and of a SOUND MIND.”

-In other words, God is on our side and we should not be afraid because He has a plan, He is with us, He will take care of us, and He is bigger than anything out there to get us..(especially the boogeyman) lol

Day 2:

Romans 12:19-21 “Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath; for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay saith the Lord. Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; of he thirst, give him drink; for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.”

In other words, let God handle them. He does way better anyways. Just shine your light and they might learn something.
“No need for revenge. Just sit back and wait. Those who hurt you will eventually screw up themselves and if you’re lucky, God will let you watch.”

Day 3: Its a bit late, but hey…today was a little full.

Psalms 73:26 “My flesh and my heart faileth; but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.”

Day 4:

2 Corinthians 12:9 “And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”

Day 5:

Matthew 7:13-14 “Enter ye at the strait gate; for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction and many there which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.”

Some verses used in Facing the Giants :).

Day 6:

1 Corinthians 1:25-27 “Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;”

God chose David, a little shepherd boy, to defeat Goliath the giant. With a stone. There are many other examples in the Bible where God chose people to carry out His plan. He can choose you also, to do something great with your life through Him to show His strength through your weakness.

Day 7: Last day

Romans 8:31 “What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?”

God is on my side…is He on yours? A promised win every single time.

Romans 8:35-39 “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Once we accept Christ into our hearts, nothing, can separate us from the love of God. Isn’t that wonderful???

Yes it is wonderful, Darci.  Thank you for sharing.
