Ephesians 2:8-10: For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
This is one of my favorite Bible passages because it says so much about salvation and living in just a few words. It says that by the grace of God we are saved by faith and that there is nothing that we ourselves can do to earn salvation. Grace means undeserved love. God loved us so much that he sent his Son Jesus to die on the cross to redeem us from our sins. This is the Gospel, The Good News. It is a gift from God.
It also says that as we as followers of Christ were created to do good works. These works will not save us. But good works are a reflection of how God loves us. As God loved us, so we are also will show our love to others through good works. We are to do good works in order to show love. For God is Love. – Michael Drake
1 John 4:8: Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.
